Our Promise

The world is changing and not for the good. It’s up to us all to adapt and change our habits on how we live and play in the outdoors and it’s up to us as a business to do the same with how we deliver events. In 2018 we made radical changes to our output in order to bring more sustainable events to the Island of Ireland in a bid to reduce waste, promote recycling, composting and lower our carbon footprint. We will strive into the future to continue to find new sustainable practices and deliver more sustainable events for all. Below are a list of our promises:

• We will operate a strict ‘Leave No Trace’ policy. This measure is very important to us. In 2015 we totally revised our environmental and operational policies encouraging everyone where possible to recycle, reuse and reduce. To car pool and use public transport. To stick to waymarked courses and to follow funnelling and signage on areas of sensitive ground and habitats. To follow the country code and to avoided areas of ground nesting birds, sea birds and nesting birds of prey.

• In 2018 in put a ban on single use plastic bottles and pledged to do our best to recycle and compost as much event waste as possible. But we didn’t leave it there. We made it a policy that all our suppliers to all events had to also inter into the same policy in order to work with us and we encouraged competitors to be more responsible in their approach their own personal impact at events. This measure has been hugely successful and we have managed to save over 45k plastic bottles and countless skips of waste from landfill in one year alone.

• In the past 26 extreme used biodegradable spray-paint as a means to waymark routes. This has been done away with since 2015 and we are pleased to say we now only use reusable signs and flags to indicate our routes.

Our final promise is to listen to suggestions, feedback and advice and where possible make changes, adapt and improve.
