For the 9:30am Ferry

The Start Line is open from 8am for those who wish to get a head start. Please bear in mind that it might be cold/or windy at the ferry terminal as it is an exposed location, so please carry a jacket to ensure you do not get cold before boarding the ferry.

We will have a mass start for those who wish to join in at 8:30am.

The Start Line for 9:30am Ferry closes at 8:45am.

Our 2024 Event will help raise much needed funds for Cancer Focus NI.

By taking part in the Carlingford Loop Sportive, you are allowing us to support people in Northern Ireland affected by cancer.

Participants will take on a 62km route around the scenic shores Carlingford Lough starting and finishing in the Albert Basin, Newry.    The route will follow the coastline from Newry to Greenore through the picturesque villages of Omeath and Carlingford.  The Scenic Carlingford Ferry will provide a crossing from Greenore to Greencastle. Cyclists will continue their coastal route around the outskirts of Kilkeel, through Rostrevor and Warrenpoint before finishing in Newry.

EVENT RULES

  • Personal Registration Only – Participants must register and compete under their own name. Substitutions, transfers, or running under another person’s name are strictly prohibited.
  • Category Changes – Notify race officials immediately if you intend to change your event category. Failure to inform staff may result in disqualification.
  • Designated Start Times – All participants must begin at the official start time assigned to their category. Early starts are not permitted under any circumstances.
  • No Early Registration Access – Pre-registration or gaining entry to the course before the official registration period is not allowed.
  • Environmental Responsibility – Follow leave-no-trace principles and adhere to the event’s plastic-free policy. Littering of any kind will result in a Did Not Finish (DNF) status.
  • No Pre-Stashed Supplies or Clothing – Participants are not allowed to store or hide supplies, clothing, or equipment along the course prior to the event.
  • External Support Restrictions – Outside assistance is prohibited, except for competitors in the UTMW164 category who have been granted specific support permissions.
  • Registered Participants Only – Non-registered individuals are not allowed to participate or join any part of the course, including pacing runners or unofficial support teams.
  • Mandatory Gear for UTMW164 – Competitors in the UTMW164 category must carry mandatory gear as specified by race organizers. Gear checks may occur at any point during the race.
  • Course Re-Entry Policy – If you need to leave the course for any reason, you must re-enter at the exact point where you exited. Shortcuts or deviations will lead to disqualification.
  • Health and Safety Disclosure – Participants must disclose any pre-existing health conditions or recent injuries before the event. Any incidents, injuries, or emergencies that occur during the race must be reported immediately to race officials.
